The Dard People – A Minority in the Northwest of India
The Ladakh region is known for its outstanding beauty, for its mountains, its Tibetan-Buddhist culture. The region is also referred to as „Little Tibet“ and it is the home of the Dard people, an Indo-European minority. Their facial features, with their slender noses, Caucasian-looking eyes and relatively fair skin, do not share many similarities with Asian features. Another peculiarity is their family model of polyandry, which allows a woman to take multiple husbands. minet paid them a visit.
