The Copts in Tyrol – A Visit to Innsbruck
More than 12 million believers around the world today belong to the Coptic Orthodox Church, a church that was founded in Egypt by St. Mark the apostle as early as the first century AD. Around 6000 Coptic Orthodox Christians live in Austria – 3000 alone in Vienna, the rest is divided among the municipalities of Graz, Linz, Klagenfurt, Bruck an der Mur and Innsbruck. minet visited the Coptic community in Innsbruck on a Saturday, a day of worship for this close-knit community that congregates in the former Carmelite church.
